Smuggling attempt worth 142 million TL foiled

Customs Protection teams have delivered a major blow to smugglers in recent operations, especially in Istanbul, Izmir, Van, and Artvin.

In Istanbul Pendik Port, the teams seized approximately 85 kilograms of heroin, while at Istanbul Airport, they confiscated around 36 kilograms of marijuana and cocaine.

In Izmir, a smuggling operation worth 10 million liras was thwarted at Adnan Menderes Airport, where approximately 10 million liras worth of various items, including electronic cigarette tobacco, hats, shoes, perfume, game consoles, projectors, nutritional supplements, and animal combs, were seized.

In Artvin, goods worth 1.1 million liras were recovered. Additionally, approximately 900,000 liras worth of 82 smuggled mobile phones were seized at Kapıköy Customs Gate, while at Sarp Customs Gate, items such as prayer beads, old belt buckles, coins embedded on belt buckles, spoons, and various goods totaling around 1.1 million liras were confiscated.

In the past two weeks, Customs Protection teams have prevented smuggling attempts totaling approximately 142 million liras in various operations across the country.

Investigations have been launched by the relevant prosecutor’s offices regarding these incidents.
