Winger Joe Burgess has been released by Super League side Salford Red Devils, following an internal investigation.
The 29-year-old scored 23 tries in 54 games for the club over three seasons, following a move from hometown Wigan Warriors for the 2021 season.
In a statement, Salford said Burgess’ conduct “was not consistent” with club standards of “professionalism, integrity, and discipline”.
Salford say they will make no further comment on the issue.
With Ken Sio’s return to Australia this winter, Salford have lost both their front-line wingers from last year for the 2024 campaign, although Ethan Ryan and Nene Macdonald have bolstered their outside-back options.
England winger Burgess, who also played for Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia, has been linked with a move to Hull KR.
