Gloucester-Hartpury maintain winning start

Emma Sing starred as Gloucester-Hartpury beat Loughborough Lightning 42-24 in Premiership Women’s Rugby.

The England full-back kicked six conversions and scored her unbeaten side’s opening try after Cath O’Donnell handed Loughborough the lead.

The defending champions stretched their lead through further tries from Kelsey Jones, Hannah Jones and Sam Monaghan.

Kathryn Treder and Bo Westcombe-Evans crossed for Lightning but Hannah Jones added her second in a bonus-point win.

Meanwhile, Saracens scored 11 tries to maintain their winning run and remain top of the table with a thumping 69-3 win at Sale Sharks.

Akina Gondwe opened the scoring from the back of a maul but Sale hit back with a Vicky Irwin penalty.

Paige Farries then opened her account before Marlie Packer powered over twice to claim the bonus point before half-time.

After the interval, the visitors extended their advantage through Poppy Cleall, Jess Breach, Leanne Infante and a second from Farries.

McKinley Hunt sniped over for their ninth try before Canada’s Farries claimed her hat-trick and Sophie de Goede sealed the final blow.

In Saturday’s late kick-off, bottom club Leicester Tigers were denied a first win of the season in a 33-24 defeat by Harlequins.

Flo Robinson and Kaitlan Leaney scored for Quins before Meg Jones showed her individual brilliance to drag Tigers into the game.

Ellie Kildunne crossed for Quins to end the half back on top and the hosts rallied after the break with a rolling maul try, only to be pegged back once again by Bryony Cleall.

Tahlia Brody and Francesca McGhie brought Tigers to within two points but Leaney’s second try ended their challenge and secured Quins’ second win of the season.
