Arsenal have signed USA defender Emily Fox from North Carolina Courage.
The 25-year-old right-back has won 39 caps, including four at last summer’s World Cup.
“It feels amazing to have signed here,” said Fox. “When I think of Arsenal, I think of excellence, I think of a global organisation, I think of family.
“I think of pushing the standards of football and especially in the women’s game. It’s a huge honour to get the opportunity to represent this club.”
Arsenal coach Jonas Eidevall has been looking for defensive cover since Laura Wienroither suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in May.
“Emily has shown impressive development over recent seasons and her strengths in both phases will make her an important addition to our squad,” Eidevall said.
Fox represented North Carolina Tar Heels at college level and spent two seasons at Racing Louisville before joining North Carolina Courage in January 2023.
She was also part of the US squads that won the Concacaf W Championship two years ago and the SheBelieves Cup in 2022 and 2023.
Arsenal, who are third in the Women’s Super League, face Everton on 20 January.
